(Bevor es zum Beispiel geht führe ich mal hier den Powerlvl ein: Angriff*Verteidigung*Leben, (Wert*WPMultiplikator);
Registeel Lvl: 24 WP: 1499 IV: (0/9/14) Powerlvl: 2.403.889 Tankkoeffizient: 1,71 Angriff: 94 Verteidigung: 192 Leben: 134 Summe: 420
Alpollo Lvl: 28,5 WP: 1498 IV: (0/15/15) Powerlvl: 1.411.167 Tankkoeffizient: 0,59 Angriff: 159 Verteidigung: 87 Leben: 102 Summe: 348
Alpollo Lvl: 27 WP: 1498 IV: (15/15/12) Powerlvl: 1.359.605 Tankkoeffizient: 0,55 Angriff: 165 Verteidigung: 85 Leben: 97 Summe: 347
English version:
I am certain some did already notice the CP-problem in pvp, but most dont understand it. This is about how CP is calculated and what it does with the Great and the Ultra League.
CP for the importand part is calculated like: "atk*(def*hp)^(0.5)" or you can say "atk^2 *def*hp"
This is great in a Raid, where you can dodge and ther is a time limit, but for pvp this creates a huge imbalance, when using CP as a limiter, becouse now glas cannons are disadvantaged and tanks are advantaged. If two pokemons have the same CP but one has only half as many atk, which means it has four times as much in durability (def*hp) this means its two times as effectiv. At the same time becouse of it, it is usefull to have the Atk-IV-value as low as possible.
(befor we get to the example some info; Powerlvl means "atk*def*hp", (value*cpmultiplier) ; next is order of the IV-values: (atk/def/hp) ; and last is the tankcoefficient: (def*hp)^(0.5) /atk)
Lets look at Registeel and Haunter in the great league
Registeel Lvl: 24 WP: 1499 IV: (0/9/14) Powerlvl: 2.403.889 Tankcoefficient: 1,71 Atk: 94 Def: 192 Hp: 134 Sum: 420
Haunter Lvl: 28,5 WP: 1498 IV: (0/15/15) Powerlvl: 1.411.167 Tankcoefficient: 0,59 Atk: 159 Def: 87 Hp: 102 Sum: 348
Haunter Lvl: 27 WP: 1498 IV: (15/15/12) Powerlvl: 1.359.605 Tankcoefficient: 0,55 Atk: 165 Def: 85 Hp: 97 Sum: 347
The tankcoefficient tells us that Haunters Atk should bring Registeals durability to an equal field (1,71*0,59=1,01), but this isnt what really happens, instead Haunter deals less damage to Registeel and gets damaged more instead (159/192 vs 94/87 ; 0,82 vs 1,08 ; => 0,76). The result is that Registeel 70% more powerfull as Haunter
Of course its not like Niantic did nothing, they nerfed Blisseys Moveset. But this means at the same time that if take your time to get a top tier pokemon power it up and teach it a second charged move, the best moves could be nerfed or counter picks get better moves and now you have to start all over again, much grind for little to no payoff. At the same time this moveset-solution increases the PayToWin-factor (the good pokemon are often rare and you will sometime see them as leage prices. With the solution i present in the next part, this would matter a lot less becouse you have a lot more pokemons to pick which would be viable.
It would be better to have a second CP-value for PVP (WPT?) where alle values would be equally importand. Also either something like the play Powerlvl, or if to keep the illusion that each power-up brings the same amount: (atk*def*hp)^(2/3). But such a change alone would anger a lot of players who already have grinded a lot to get where there are, as their pokemons would probably be over the limit now, ergo a lot less usefull. For this an Event would be usefull were you could reverse power ups (until a certain level (20?)).
The CP we have now would still be better for Raids and shouldnt disappear.
I am including my spreadsheet, use and share it how you want as long i will get mentioned.
And pls, if you can help, get this problem to the developers.
PS: Pottrott still wouldnt be viable.
The good thing about damage in Pokemon go compared to the main games is that it doesnt include the level itself.
