About math explanation...
Shields:
Magizoologist , reduce damage in 100%
Professor, reduce damage in 64.3%
Auror, reduce damage in 49.2%
Proficiency pass your own damage against proficiency foes from 248% to 292%, an upgrade of only 17%
From this point already seems smaller the benefit , but let’s go more deep.
Since there is no shields , almost non profession is gonna go hit a non proficiency foe (a werewolf for Magi or Auror for example) loosing ~100 of damage per hit that you could be doing while waiting in the hall, and remember that ~100 is more than the extra from 2 hits with proficiency.
Also, ppl fainted , every time someone dies (or faint), you lost 2 hits , one from the animation of the person that die and one from the animation of the Magizoo that goes revive. This goes from 200 damage up to 500 if those 2 where fighting against a proficiency foe.
All of this make the actual dps (damage per second) from proficiency way lower than what you get from shields first.
When proficiency can be cast, you need to read the next : “is there 4 foes or more that are gonna be kill with proficiency?” If the answer is yes, cast it , if it’s not, use deterioration hex in foes that are gonna be fight without proficiency.
In any case, if a potion needed , we just start with a strong invigorating and cast the last shield starting with the 5 shields . And no more potions needed. We use this sometimes when someone is a low level player and want to keep doing 5-5-5
